About The Blue Mountains
The Town of the Blue Mountains is home to the renowned Blue Mountain Ski Resort and several private alpine recreation clubs. The town was formed in 2001 when Thornbury was amalgamated with Collingwood. Located about two hours from Toronto, it’s ideally situated on the shores of South Georgian Bay between the summer resorts of Wasaga Beach and the harvest festivals of Meaford.
This area has been called Ontario’s four season recreation capital and Toronto’s Hamptons for a reason! In the winter, skiing, and snowmobiling are the main attractions with one of Canada’s top ski resorts and hundreds of kilometers of trails to explore. In the summer, locals and visitors alike enjoy the miles of beaches and networks of mountain bike trails. If you like golf, there are a number of professional courses in the area to test your skills.
This area is home to a large artisan community, many of who sell their creations in small boutiques and shops in the village centres. Visit during the Stayner Art Fest and meet the local craftspeople who are inspired by the natural beauty of the bay. The resort village of Blue Mountains has an excellent selection of shops and services with Collingwood just a short drive away for professional services and big box stores.
